Citizenship - shopping

March 8- March 12
We will continue to learn how to be more conscious consumers by doing an in-class activity
HOMEWORK DUE FRIDAY 8:20AM:
Reflect (think) back on our in-class activity and answer the following questions in your blogs:
• How did it feel to have more or less money than other people in the class?

I don't think they are some much difference about it but what I think is as long as you have a good life as long as you can live on the earth it's okay for me.

How did it feel to see what you could and could not afford at the Global Mall?

It's kinda of unfair this is what I think because that other people get lot's of money like rich people and buy good stuff you don't have to work or like do anything to get it that's so nice but then we get for nothing just by working and making ourselves live just much better.

• How many of you could not afford education? What would your lives be like if you could not go to school?
There are a lot that i can't do it because i don't have enough money it will be worse if i don't go to school first you ave to think about your live and then the travel if you can't go to school you can't learn anything and in the future when you work it's kinda hard to find a good job for me.

• How would it feel to have to choose between food and health care?
It will be really worse because if you eat a lot then that's okay but it doesnt mean you will get healthy you still hve to make you healthy or you will get sick or die and then if you choosen health care it still needs food to protect yoruself or you will also sick and die, food and health care are the most two important thing that you cant lose in your life.

• How many of you have ever been very sick or gone to a hospital or had friends and family who have? What would your life be like now if you had been unable to get medical care?
Yes my family before and that's really bad and also i think it will be worse because that you won't get good or better if you don't eat anything to protect your body.

• What were the impacts caused by people with fewer Global Mall Dollars, and what were the impacts caused by people with more Global Mall Dollars?

It depend's.

8th Graders ALSO ANSWER THE FOLLOWING:
• Discuss the fact that roughly one-fifth of all people worldwide survive on
less than $1 (U.S.) a day – how does this limit their choices, and what are the environmental, social, and global security implications of this?

It's kinda impossible to have 1 doller a day to survive because you will need lots of thing and then if you count it as a year or month you can't really buy anything you want.

• When you were choosing what to buy, did you think about the environmental impact? For those of you in the lowest income range, did you have a choice about the environmental impact you produced? If not, how did it feel to
not have a choice?

I think the post important thing is it's really hard to get something that you want but then with "?" price of money you will have to think about lot's of thing but it all depends on how much you have.

I don't really think there is "connections " between the story of stuff and eve ensler's story because they are one talking about the waste of earth and stuff and one is talking about the life of girls and then but i think there is only one connection is that they both are talking about how the factories and works.
